Foster, 79, of 3871 Mallard Dr., Greenville, formerly of Belding, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at United Memorial Health Center Long Term Care. She was born May 25, 1920, in Ionia, the daughter of Willie and Rosie M. Bennett Helmes. She worked as a beautician at beauty shops in the Belding area for 40 years. She was a member and past president of Business and Professional Women, Belding, and the First Congregational Church, Belding. Survivors are her husband, H. L. Jacques Foster of Greenville; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Richard Chickering of Belding; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Julie Foster of Seattle; one stepdaughter, Cheri Foster of Seattle; three sisters, Mary Esther Daddazio of Sarasota, Fla., Betty Heyn of Belding, Margaret Smith of Portland; two sisters-in-law, Mertice Ehlert, Louise Finkbeiner, both of Greenville; two brothers, Harold Helmes of Harrison, Melvin Helmes of Ionia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jacqueline Meade, in 1995. Committal services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Huffman Funeral Home, Belding, with the Rev. Dick Woodward officiating. Interment will be in Greene Cemetery, Belding. Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or First Congregational Church.
