Ionia Daily Standard, 5 Jul 1899

Edward R. Foster, aged 63, died quite suddenly about 6 o’clock Monday evening.  
The doctor pronounced the cause to be a clot of blood on the heart.  Funeral 
services, conducted by Rev. W. H. B. Urch, at residence in Prairie Creek 
suburb, this afternoon.  The services were attended by a detail from Wm. H. 
Borden post, of which deceased was a member.  He enlisted in ’61 in the 10th 
Illinois infantry, and in ’63 re-enlisted in the 9th Ill. cavalry, a regiment 
of well earned reputation for gallantry, and in which he was wounded.  
Interment, Highland Park.
