A. R. Mitchell and Rev. Cyrus Mendenhall conducted the funeral for J. Lee Fowle at the residence on East Washington street Friday afternoon. The attendance was very large, and the floral pieces were not only numerous, but of unusual beauty. The G.A.R. turned out in good numbers, and the Library board, Library force and insurance office force were all presentment. The G.A.R. post provided the honorary bearers—Commander J. C. Taylor, C. C. Eyster, W. E. Normington, W. A. Woods, J. H. Laden and Andrew Jackson. The carriers were chosen from the Elks—A. J. Hemingway, Thane Benedict, A. R. Locke, F. A. Chapman, H. F. Voelker and F. G. Longe. Burial was in Highland Park. Here from outside the city were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fowle of Sault Ste. Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Georgd Knight and Mrs. Dunton of Battle Creek, Mrs. Janet Mallory and Mr. and Mrs. Brown of Moscow Plains, Hillsdale County, John Sessions with two daughters and two sons, all from Vickeryville, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Burkhart of Fowlerville, Mr. and Mrs. James Fowle of Battle Creek. Miss Nina K. Preston came from her work in Plainwell to attend the funeral.
