Mr. Fox died at Prescott, Arizona, where he went in the hope of regaining his health. The remains were accompanied home on the long journey by his son, James. The mass was said by the Rev. Father Doyle, assisted by the Rev. Father Staubinger C. SS. R. The church was crowded to the doors with sympathizing and sorrowing friends. The appropriate words of his pastor applied most fittingly to the deceased as those who knew him best realized, the community had lost a kind, gentle and an honest gentleman. The pall bearers were his five sons, John, Thomas, James, Leo, Louis and his nephew, William. His son, Leo of the National army coming home from Fort Newark, N. J. Mr. Fox spent practically all his life in Ionia county moving here at the age of two years. His first wife who was formerly Miss Mary O’Meara, died in 1900 leaving six children, a daughter, Miss Catherine and the above mentioned five sons. He also leaves to mourn him his wife, formerly Miss Lucy Hichey, to whom he was married in 1907 and four brothers, John, Michael, James and Patrick. Mr. Fox had four sons called to the draft, only one however as yet being called into service. He was a man of quiet demeanor who greatly loved his home and family and in a last message to his soldier son wrote, “We are many miles apart, but will soon meet again.” Numerous friends from Carson City, Fowler and Pewamo, also the following relatives and friends from other cities were: Miss Mabel Myers, Mr. and Mrs. J. Burk of Lansing, Mrs. Carten, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Burke, Mr. and Mrs. Rob Ammon, Charles Ammon, and Mr. and Mrs. Holbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Sheehan, Mr. and Mrs. John Nolan, and Miss Genevieve Nolan of Ionia, Mrs. E. Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hickey of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Thomas Giblin of Chicago, Miss Anna Hickey, Rose and Phil Boardman of Toledo.
