J. Fowle received a telegram announcing the death of her father, James Fox, at the Kalamazoo asylum Feb. 17. Mr. Fox was an employee in the D., L. and N. shops here for ten years, and was sent to the asylum eight years ago last September, leaving his wife with five small children, to battle with the world. Mrs. Fox died three years ago last November, and the children were scattered. Mamie, the eldest, was afterwards married to James J. Fowle, an estimable young man of this city. Katie found a home with Mrs. E.B. Miller. Anna is now living with J.L. Fowle, and the two boys are in St. Vincent’s asylum, Monroe. Mrs. Fowle the eldest daughter was at Kalamazoo last month, to see her father, as it was reported that he had consumption and could not long survive. He did not know her, and she would hardly have known him, so changed was he, and the meeting could hardly have been a cause of much gratification.
