Fox, 89, of Portland passes away July 9, 2004. He was born in Westphalia Oct. 10, 1914 the son of Anthony and Helena (Martin) Fox. Mr. Fox was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, a member of the Portland VFW Post #4090, and the American Legion Post #129. Gilbert was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Portland Knights of Columbus #2168 and retired from TRW in Portland after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Estella of 58 years; daughter-in-law, Margo Fox; brothers, Clarence, Lester, Elgin and William; sisters, Pauline and Theresa. Surviving are sons, Michael (Sue) Fox and Lynn (Wendy) Fox, both of Portland; grandchildren, Jenny (Nick) Sandborn, Jill and Mandy Fox, Justin, Angiek, Leslie, Jacob and Jarred Fox; brothers, Anthony (Lela) Fox and Merlin (Diana) Fox; sisters, Olga Blundy, Jeanette Atwell and Helen (Stanley) Osborn; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 15 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal followed at Portland Cemetery with military honors being provided by the Portland VFW Post $4090. Arrangements were handled by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
