She was born July 4, 1926 to Fred and Emma (Bennett) Hoppes, their first of 4 daughters following her brother, Robert. Her big brother, Bob called her "Babe" which stuck with her all her life. Lillian grew up in Portland area and married William Anthony Fox on June 18, 1949 and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2002. They were the parents of ten children; Richard (Eraina Young) Fox, William E. (Lori) Fox Jr., Diane (Tom) Allen, Connie Jo Fox (died at 5 months), Steven (Laurie) Fox, Sue (Pete) Huhn Louan (Pat) Malloy, Doug (Evelyn) Fox, David Fox (died at 2 years) and Beth (Chris) Ralston. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Hoppes and her parents. Surviving are her 8 children; grandchildren George Fox, Kari Fox, James (Jenny) Fox, Lisa (James) Espinoza, Mark Fox, Tom (Jenna) Allen, Bill Allen, Tina (Tim) Rogers, Connie (Kevin) Huhn, Todd Fox, Matt Fox, Amy Huhn, Eden Malloy, Connor Malloy, Nick Ralston, Shelby Ralston; step grandchildren, Danielle Dursham and Michael Schafer; nine great grandchildren; three siblings, Robert Hoppes Sr., Arlene Lusher and Lucille Hoppes; in-laws: Helen Fox Osborne, Merlin "Bud" (Diane) Fox and special sister-in-law, cousin, and friend Lella Hoppes Fox; many nieces and nephews. Lillian enjoyed the Game Show Network and the telephone. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Larry King, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m., Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Lillian.
