His death occurred on the 29th of August and Mrs. Lewis has notified friends in this city, Henry A. Smith having received a letter from there this week conveying this information. Mr. Fox came here from England over 20 years ago and resided on what is known as the Fox 40 acres in the southern limits of the city, and had reached the age of 75 years when called to his last rest. Although usually known as Samuel Fox, his real name was Samuel Fox Peatchcott, and he was a man of considerable learning and was well connected with English relatives. He sold his property to his daughter a few years ago retaining a life lease of it, which has now passed into her hands. Mr. Fox was a good debater and could hold his point of argument with any one on all subjects.
