Fox, formerly of Lyons, in this County, died in Indianapolis on the 7th of Oct. of congestion of the lungs. He was a son of D. M. Fox, born in Lyons, where he resided most of the time until he removed to Indianapolis, several years ago, where he has lived since. His death was very sudden and unexpected; feeling unwell he laid down upon the sofa, to be called in two or three hours if not awake, and when they went to wake him he was found dead. His apparent good health and suddenness of his death left an uncertainty in the minds of the family as to the cause, but a post mortem examination revealed the fact that the lungs had become attached to the breast bone and ribs, and caused congestion. The deceased, since his residence in Indianapolis, had been book keeper and cashier for John G. Hanning, prominent business man of that city, and had by his honesty and integrity won the confidence of his employer, and hosts of friends in business circles. The Indianapolis papers, speaking of the deceased, say: “A. B. Fox was married about five years ago to a sister of Frank Wilson, Chief of Police of this city, who was his friend and confidant from boyhood. He was a son of Col. D. M. Fox, of Ionia, Michigan where his remains will be transported for burial. The deceased was twenty six years of age, of admirable physique and handsome appearance. He was a member in good standing of the Masonic fraternity and a Knight Templar. By his socially and jovial demeanor he won for himself a legion of friends, all of whom deeply regret his untimely taking off. He was a young man of fine business qualifications and would, doubtless, had life been prolonged, achieved a grand position in the mercantile world. “The funeral was held on Sunday following his death in Christ’s Church, Episcopalian, the services being conducted by Rev. E. A. Bradley, after which the procession re-formed, in which was Rapu Commandery of Knights Templar, Lodges of Free and Accepted Masons, and orders of Reb Mrb, and Union and City Boards, and escorted the remains to the vault in Greenlawn Cemetery, from which they will be sent to the former home of the deceased, in Ionia county, Michigan.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/f/fox8311nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.8 Kb
