Wave, Thursday, Dec. 10, 1970 Mamie V. France Passes Away Mrs. Mamie V. France, 92, of rural Woodland passed away on Wednesday night, Dec. 2, at the Barry County Medical Facility where she had been a patient for 19 months. She was born in Woodland on September 17, 1878, the daughter of Albert and Christina (Jordan) Barnum, and was a lifelong resident of the area. December 14, 1898, she married James F. France of Woodland and he passed away July 4, 1925. Mrs. France was a member of the Woodland United Methodist church, WSCS of the church, a charter member of the Woman's Study Club of Woodland and a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Hastings. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Adam (Marguerita) Baitinger and Mrs. Norman (Edna) Wisc. both of Woodland and Mrs. William (Theo) Farmer of Tampa, Fla., three sons, Foster of Tampa, Fla., Liburn (Ty) and Robert of Woodland: twenty grandchildren: six great grandchildren and two great, great, grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Daisy Guy and Mrs. Harold (Martha) Smith of Lake Odessa. Funeral services were held on Saturday at 1:30 at Pickens Funeral Chapel, Rev. Claude Ridley officiated with burial in the Woodland Memorial Park.
