Burial will be at Orleans cemetery. Members of the family will be at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday evenings. A memorial fund has been established for the Presbyterian church. He was born May 20, 1887 in Monroe County, Indiana, the son of George and Lidia French. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and life member of the Elks lodge. Several years of his life were spent serving in the regular United States army and he was sheriff of Ionia county, chief criminal investigator for state of Michigan attorney general’s office and director of plant security for Mitchell-Bentley Corp. 20 years. In 1932 he was married to Evelyn Sherwood who survives, as does his son, William A. Franch of Annapolis, Md., and two grandchildren.
