N. Chaple. Ephriam G. Francis died Thursday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Philo Chapel. Mr. Francis was born in Oakland county Aug. 18, 1848 coming to Portland to live some years ago. He worked at his trade as carpenter until his health failed him. While living here he built a home in the east part of town. About eight years ago Mr. Francis went to Colorado where he spent one summer returning to Lansing to live. He had been sick about two years, but six weeks ago expressed the wish to come to Portland and his family were able to bring him here. It was a great satisfaction to spend his last days in his old home town. Mrs. Francis and one daughter, Mrs. Walter Spaulding of Lansing survive him, besides his brother, Fred L. Frances and his two sisters, Mrs. Philo Chapel and Mrs. Chas. Gilden. The funeral services were held at his sister’s home Saturday afternoon, Rev. Millard officiating. The Odd Fellows had charge of the burial and marched in a body to the cemetery.
