The Ionia Sentinel, Monday, June 5, 1882

One of the two cases of scarlet fever reported in Prairie Creek, resulted 
fatally, the child of Ezra Franks dying on Saturday.  Two more cases are 
reported in the family of Mr. Bodell, the infection having been taken from the 
Franks’ house.

Subsequent Publication:  Wednesday, June 7, 1882

Mr. Ezra Frank desires us to make a correction of the item about the scarlet 
fever cases at Prairie Creek.  He states that instead of the Bedell children 
taking the disease from his (Frank’s) children, one of whom died, that both 
the Franks and Bedell children took it from the children of Mrs. Neil, 
formerly Mrs. Palk Place, who were visiting in the family of W. D. Place.
