Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 5 Feb 1949

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Mapes funeral home in
Sunfield for Marion Franks, 73, who died at his Sunfield home Monday evening
after a long illness.  Services were conducted by the Rev. Alford Custer. 
Interment was in Sunfield cemetery.

Mr. Franks was born in Sebewa October 29, 1875, the son of Sylvenus and Rebecca
Franks.  His life was spent in Sebewa and Sunfield where he sheared sheep for
many years.

Surviving are the widow, Minnie; five children, Lillian Cole of Lansing, William
Franks of Mason, Edward Franks of Durand, Mildred Valentine of Brenton, Fla.,
and Roberta Armstrong of Lansing; 14 grandchildren, a brother, Clyde Franks, of
Grand Rapids; and a sister Mrs. Ida Thrams of Sebewa.
