Mr. Franks was born in Woster, Wayne County, Ohio, on March 5, 1863, and came to Orange township with his parents when 13 years of age. At the age of 19 years he was untied in marriage to Miss Rebecca Miller. From this union eight children were born, three dying in infancy. Following their marriage they resided for a few years in Orange when they moved to Sebewa, on the farm he still owned. Seventeen years ago they moved to Sunfield where they resided for fourteen years, three years ago coming to Portland where, last April they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church, having at an early age given his heart to Christ. He was also a member of the Ancient Order of Gleaners and for years was a member of the Odd Fellows. Besides the widow he is survived by five children, Marion of Sunfield, Benjamin of Colon, Mich., Mrs. Carl Thrams of Sebewa, Clyde of Ionia and Mrs. Allie Esch of Portland.
