He was a Master farmer in 1941 and a 4-H Club leader for 28 years; a director of the State Savings Bank of Lowell; a member of the Lowell Rotary Club; past Supervisor of Boston Township; a member of Lowell Lodge No. 90 F & AM; past president of the North Bell School Board and a 50 year member of the South Boston Grange. On April 27, 1904 he was united in marriage to Maude L. O’Harrow, who died July 3, 1948. Born to this union were 2 sons who died in infancy and 1 daughter, Mrs. Bernard Kropf who survives. In 1951 he married Maude E. Hennrick of Carson City who also survives. In addition to his wife and daughter he is survived by four grandchildren of Lowell; one brother, Verne of East Lansing; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Kyser of Lowell and Mrs. Belle Collar of Grand Rapids; three step-children, Maxine Frye of Carson City, Clarke Anderson of Mt. Vernon, Indiana and Bette Colberg of Tom Rivers, New Jersey; 7 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Roth Mortuary, Rev. J. Marion DeVinney officiated and interment was made in South Boston Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were the bank directors and acting pallbearers were members of the Lowell Rotary Club.
