Miss French was an optometrist with offices in the music store of her father, G.W. French, and her brother, Lyle French. She was born in Sparta, but had lived the greater part of her life in Ionia, taking an active part in the business and social circles of the city. She was a past worthy matron of Queen Esther chapter, Order of Eastern Star, a member of Ionia shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem, a past president of the Ionia Business and Professional Women's club, and am ember of the Ionia Church of Christ. W. French was filled Sunday afternoon for the funeral services for Miss Grace French, a popular business woman, who died Thursday afternoon. Large delegations from the Queen Esther chapter, O.E.S. and the Business and Professional Woman's club were present. The services were conducted by Rev. F.J. Fitch and the bearers were J.R. Bricker, Chandler Haight, John Toutehoetd, Leo Lampkin, George Echart, Lyle Heft. Burial was in Highland Park cemetery. In the death of Miss French, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. French suffered the loss of their only daughter and business, social and fraternal circles suffered the loss of an ardent and valued colleague. Miss French was born in Sparta but had lived the greater part of her life in Ionia. She was a registered optometrist with offices in the music store of her father and her brother Lyle. To her mother, who was in poor health, she had been a dutiful daughter, kind, loving and thoughtful. To her father and brother, she was a capable loyal assistant. She possessed the charm of dignity, which perhaps was best exemplified by her while she was worth matron of Queen Esther chapter, O.E.S. While president of the Business and Professional Business Woman's club she executed the duties with an ability that made her term of office one of the outstanding of the club's history. She held membership in Ionia Shrine, W.S. of J. and the Church of Christ. She received her early education in the Ionia schools, and later took a course in optometry.
