Guelda Mary Frey, 82, of Ionia and formerly of Alpena, passed away Tuesday, 
January 6, 2004 at Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  Guelda was born in Lachine 
on April 14, 1921 to the late Henry and Mattie (Mills) Wiseman.

On December 29, 1939 she married Merlon Edward Frey, he preceded her in death 
December 14, 1995.  

Guelda was an avid Salvationist, and she loved life, family, church and 
motorcycles.  At 79 years of age she graduated from high school with multiple 
awards, which was a lifelong dream.

She is survived by her children, Thomas Merlon (Linda) Frey of Hazel Park, 
Judy Ann (Mrs. Jerry) Ludlow of Mt. Pleasant, JoAnn Viola (Mrs. Larry) 
Thompson of Ionia; Lloyd David Frey of Ossineke; daughter-in-law, Dora Mae 
Frey; 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.  Preceding her in death 
were two sons, Robert Henry Frey and Charles Edward Frey; two grandchildren, 
Raymond Lee Ludlow and Anthony Owen Ludlow; a brother, Frank Wiseman; and a 
sister, Abigail Evans.

Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 
p.m. and Saturday 2 to 8 p.m.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral 
home Sunday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Art Fournier officiating.  Interment at Long 
Rapids Cemetery.
