M. Mr. Friedli had been in failing health for some time but his illness was not considered critical. He was found dead in his barn early Saturday morning shortly after he had left the house to do the chores. His son-in-law, Thomas Caulfield, of Pontiac, who was visiting at the Friedli home, followed him to the barn and made the discovery. Ernest Friedli was born in Berne, Switzerland, August 17, 1887, and came to this country with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Friedli, when very young and has lived in the vicinity of Lowell and Saranac most of his life. He had lived on the farm where he died the past 18 years and was well known and well liked. He was a member of the Masonic order and Eastern Star, and had held offices of trust on the township board. He is survived by his widow, Louise; a son, Paul; a daughter, Mrs. Geraldyne Caulfield of Pontiac; his father, Gotlieb Friedli of Lowell; one sister, Mrs. Marie Hanselman of Ann Arbor; and three brothers, Herman of Detroit and John and Armiel of Lowell. Rev. Frank Loomis officiated. Bearers were Stanley Ayers, Glenn Adgate, John Adgate, Earl Scheid, Lee Leary and Joe Billinger, brother Masons. Burial was in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery at Lowell, under Masonic rites.
