Friesner, 29, a former Ionia high school music department student, who has been band director in Gladwin community schools since 1971, died following a car accident north of Gladwin early Saturday morning. Born in Ionia, June 19, 1947, the son of Emory and Evelyn Larsen Friesner, he attended Ionia public schools and graduated with the Class of 1965. He was active in choir, band, football, school plays and musicals. He attended Central Michigan University where he graduated in 1970, and was active in the symphonic, marching and concert bands he accepted the band directorship in Gladwin a year later. Surviving is his mother who makes her home in Ionia, and two step-brothers, John and Bruce Friesner of Lowell. He was preceded in death by his father February 24, 1969. Family and friends may call at Leddick Funeral Home Monday and Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with services Wednesday at 1 p.m. from First Christian church in Ionia, with the Rev. Roger Gifford officiating. A memorial fund has been established for Gladwin high school band scholarships or First Christian church. Burial is in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
