Frost, 57, of Crystal, went home to Glory on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, after a courageous 3 ˝ years battle with leukemia. She was born in Belding on Sept. 2, 1948, to Calvin and Eva Gunderson. Alana worked at Electrolux for 35 years until her retirement in 2002. She was a member of Freedom Way church of God in Crystal where she was known as “the lady at the door” because of her greeting hugs. She especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed writing letters to friends and those in prison. She loved the farm and animals and especially her dog, Jane. She married Victor Frost on Nov. 23, 1968, in Crystal. Alana was preceded in death by her parents; nephews, Dennis, Aldon, Aaron Durham; brother-in-law, Burt Kloosterman; brother, Gordon Pollock; and sister-in-law and husband, Sharon and Don Jolls. She is survived by her husband, Victor; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Peter and Angelina Frost of Louisville, Ky., Kelly and his friend, Michele of Carson City, Matthew and his friend, Amanda, of Crystal; five grandchildren, Michael, Charles, A.J., Brett and Kelsey; two sisters, Joanne and Aldon Durham of Greenville, Shirley Kloosterman of Lowell ; three brothers, Ray and Lynne Pollock of Lakeview, Greg and Donna Gunderson of Phoenix, Ariz., John Groaner, who was her bone marrow donor, and his wife, Sandy, of Crystal; six sisters-in-law, Josie Pollock, Judy Warner, Peggy and Chester Johnson, all of Greenville, Mary and Clare Crawfis of Carson City, Linda and Roger Vanconis of Greenville, Brenda and Lee Thompson; two brothers-in-law, Roger and Harold Frost, both of Crystal; uncles, aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins. At this time the family would like to extend a special thanks to Alana’s caregivers while she was in Ann Arbor; Lynnette Peterman, Cleo Baldwin, Peggy Johnson and Roxanne Van Hory. The family also would like to thank the staff at the University of Michigan Hospital, Lacks Cancer Center and Carson City Hospital. A memorial services was Wednesday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Crystal, with Brian Wickes officiating. Alana was cremated and interred in Crystal Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorial contributions to Freedom Way Church of God or the Leukemia Foundation.
