Mrs. I. G. Frost, widow of the last Isaiah G. Frost and mother of Thomas Frost and Mrs. Wm. Hixson of Portland, and Isaac T. Frost of New York City, departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1891, aged 79 years. Mrs. Frost had been a resident of Portland vicinity since 1837, she and her husband having moved from Ulster county, N.Y. in that year. They located at what is known as Frost’s corners, where they lived for many years. Mr. Frost died nine years ago. He was a useful citizen, a man much respected, and more than forty years since was treasurer of Ionia County. Since her husband’s death Mrs. Frost has lived with her only surviving daughter, Mrs. Hixson, at whose home her death occurred. Mrs. Frost had been an invalid for more than five years. A stroke of paralysis was the first cause of her sickness but afterwards other diseases set in which rendered her nearly helpless. She professed religion more than thirty years ago, and subsequently united with the Congregational church of this village. Though her mind was latterly somewhat obscured, yet through all her sickness religion was her consistent theme and she died in full assurance of a blissful immortality. Her funeral was attended at her late residence on Friday last at 10:30 a.m., Rev. D. E. Millard officiating, assisted by Rev. C. W. Bird.
