He fought a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer for two years. George was born September 5, 1947 to George and Pearle Frye in Detroit. He graduated from Portland High School in 1965, and married Sharon (Hughes) in 1969. Skip attended Michigan State University and was a big Spartan fan. He was thrilled to attend and watch the Spartans win the 2014 Rose Bowl with his brother, John. Not just a Spartan fan Skip loved all sports and his favorite was golf. He was a great golfer and teacher. His vanity plate read "Acexthree". During his successful careers with Meijer, Target, Rent-a-Center, Aarons and ReBath, George was an inspiring role model and leader. He always had time to teach and mentor. George dearly loved his family, friends and his life. He was so grateful to all who loved and supported him during his fight with cancer. George is survived by his wife, Sharon, a daughter and son-in law, Emily and Brian Petersen of Trufant, MI, son and daughter-in-law Eric and Betty Frye of Parker, CO, grandchildren, Joseph Petersen of Ft Bliss, TX, Zachary Petersen of Trufant, Ethan, Wyatt and Olivia Frye of Parker, CO, his mother, Pearle Frye of Spring Arbor, MI, sisters Alice Hatcher and Joan Fitzpatrick of Spring Arbor, MI and brother John Frye of Springfield, IL, also: nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends Preceding George in death were his father, George Frye, sister, Fran Huhn, sister, Denise Bandfield. Plans are being made for a service and burial at Danby Cemetery sometime this summer.
