Fuller, 75, of Ionia, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Ionia. He was born the son of Leo and Marina (McKendry) Fuller on June 16, 1924, in Ionia. He graduated from the Ionia High School in 1942. He graduated from Albion College after four years and received his Masters Degree from Michigan State University. Gordon served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a deputy warden at the Jackson State Prison in Southern Michigan and then became the chairman of the Parole Board, Department of Corrections, retiring from that position in 1980. He married the former Helen Mellinger on Jan. 13, 1946, in Ionia. Gordon was a member of the Ionia Elks, the Ionia VFW, the Ionia Moose and the Saranac American Legion Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Helen; two daughters, Leanne (Michael) Sexton of Clarkston and LuAnn McDaniel of Ionia and her friend Michael O’Rourke; one son, David (Jane) Fuller of Ionia; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia with the Rev. David Weber from the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment in Easton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home.
