He was born in Belding on September 17, 1927 to Don and Elsie Barnes Fuller. When he was 6 years old, his family from Belding to Greenville, where in 1945 he graduated from Greenville High School. In school, many watched as he loved playing basketball for the Yellow Jackets. After school, Gale serviced two years in the Merchant Marines. In May 1948 he married Barbara Martin, also of Greenville. They had two children, Kirk and Sue. Gale retired in 1989 after 40 years of employment with Federal-Mogul of Greenville. He was a founding charter member and once served as president of the Federal-Mogul of Greenville Credit Union (now Preferred Federal Credit Union of Greenville) and was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge 96. He was also a longtime member of First Congregational Church of Greenville. His greatest pleasure and source of pride was his family. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, camping, playing cards and watching all kinds of sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ron Fuller of Greenville; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. He is survived by Barb, his wife of 56 years of marriage; son, Kirk and his wife, Alison Fuller, of Grand Rapids; daughter, Sue and her husband, Paul Chamberlain, of Blanchard; grandchildren, Jeff and Jake Nolan, Jessica and John Fuller; step-grandchildren, Aaron and Jason Chamberlain; aunts, Genevieve Barnes of Greenville, Evelyn Fuller of Grand Rapids; three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. In his quiet way he touched the lives and hearts of many. The world has lost someone special. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church of Greenville, with the Rev. Jerrold Jones officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, where the family will greet relatives and friends. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to First Congregational Church of Greenville or the American Cancer Society.
