Bennett lib@dogsbark.com April 18, 2010, 2:51 am Portland Review and Observer FULLER, IRA: Per "Portland Observer" newspaper, Thursday, Februrary 8, 1940, front page: "Ira Fuller Passes Away at Age of 90; Resided Here For More Than 60 Years; Funeral Held Wednesday; One of the Village's Best Known Residents; Born in East; Came to This Village After Living in Sebewa. Ira Fuller, one of the Portland's older and best known residents, died at his home on Elm Street Sunday morning. He had been in poor health for some time, and his condition grew worse a few days before his death. Mr. Fuller was 90 years old. Deceased was born in Livingston county, N.Y., and came to this locality as a young man. He lived in Sebewa for a time, and then came to Portland, where he had lived for 65 years. His wife died several years ago. There are four daughters---Miss Francelia Fuller, who resided with her father; Mrs. George Hudson, Hyattsville, Md.; Mrs. Hattie Stauffer, Caledonia, Mich.; Mrs. Will Kinney, Portland. A sister, Mrs. Mary Davey, lives at Wayland, Mich. Mr. Fuller had 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Neller Funeral home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. L. M. Rigelman, of the Methodist church officiating, and burial was in Portland cemetery. Bearers were William and Raymond Snow, Basil Kinney, Homer Peacock, David and Donald Stauffer."
