Ionia Sentinel Standard, 10 Aug 2002

Mrs. Joyce L. Funkey, 79, of Ionia, passed away Friday, August 9, 2002, at the 
Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  She was born the daughter of D. and Myrtle 
(Lemke) Van Nornum on Dec. 24, 1922.

Joyce graduated from the Ionia High School in 1941.  She was employed at 
Independent Bank for 25 years.  She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic 
Church in Ionia.  She married Donald Funkey on April 20, 1955.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Donald; two children, David (Darlene) 
Funkey of Sand Lake and Julie (Frank) McClintock of Ionia; four grandchildren 
and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday from SS. Peter & Paul Catholic 
Church in Ionia with Fr. Melvin Fox as Presider.  The organist will be Mary 
Cusack.  Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  
Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral 
Home in Ionia.  Memorial contributions may be made to SS. Peter & Paul 
Education Trust Fund in care of Cook Funeral Home.
