He was born in Berlin township April 22, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Furman. When he was still a young boy he moved with his parents to Muir where he spent his boyhood days. He was married in 1900 to Miss Mary Neff, also of Muir, and four years later they moved to Ionia and resided for a number of years on Morse street. For the past three years he has made his home with his son, Douglas Furman on the State road. Mr. Furman worked at the Pere Marquette car shops for 13 years and at the old wagon works for about 12 years. Mrs. Furman died 11 years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lily Sherd and Mrs. Lucy Reed, both of Lansing; a son, Douglas Furman, Ionia township; his mother, Mrs. Amos Furman, of Grand Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Julia Seat, of Grand Rapids; six grandchildren; a niece, Mrs. Iva Dodge of Flint, and a nephew, Fred Furman, of Owosso. Funeral services will be held from the Myers funeral home Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. F. J. Fitch officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
