Oct. 15, 1959 FRED FUSZEK Fred Fuszek, 77, of 463 Harter street, Ionia, former Ionia meat merchant, died Saturday, October 3, at his home. He had been ill for eight years. Born January 20, 1882 at Bartislavia, Hungary, he was the son of Stephen and Henrietta Fuszek. He came to the United States as a young man and resided in Durand and Chesaning for 15 years before coming to Ionia.He was married to Frances Greenfeider at Chesaning October 9, 1928. In 1934 Fuszek came to Ionia and was general manager of the Grand Valley Packing Company for four years. In 1938 he opened his own meat market and grocery which he continued until his retirement in 1951 because of illness. Surviving are his wife, Frances; one daughter, Rita, of East Lansing; and two sisters, Margit Petten of Czechoslovakia, and Auguste Schilling of Wolfsburg, Austria. Funeral service was held Monday, October 5, at the SS. Peter and Paul Church with the Rev. Fr. Stamslaus Bur officiating. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Chesaning. Pallbearers were Max Stebbins, John Glasson, Harold Harwood, William Heufelder, Justice Christensen and Richard Greenfeider. Arrangements were made by Phelps Funeral Chapel, ionia.
