LYONS- Fred. W. (Sonney) Fyan, Jr., 48, died Friday, April 8, 1994, in Grand 
Rapids.



He was born the son of Fred W. and Viola (Misner) Fyan Sr. on July 17, 1945 in 
Antrim County.



Mr. Fyan was a lifelong resident of Lyons. He served in the U.S. Army and was a 
veteran of Vietnam. He was a member and Commander of the VFW Post 4646 of Lyons 
and a former member of VFW Post 4090 of Portland.



He was formerly employed with the City of Portland, retiring in Sept. 1991. He 
was also a founding member of the Lyons Riverbend Haulers Tractor Club. 



He is survived by his wife Julia; five sons, Rodney Fyan and Rickey Fyan of 
Grand Rapids; Jerry Fyan of Portland, Lanny Fyan and Charlie Fyan of Lyons; one 
daughter, Angela McGinty of Pewamo; two-stepsons, John Cahoon of Ionia and 
Lanty Cahoon of Lyons; one step-daughter, Tammy Wakefield of Portland, 11 
grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne Fyan, Gordy Fyan and Bruce Fyan; three 
sisters, Joanne Rhodes, Susan Drueger, and Luanne Sweeney; and several nieces 
and nephews.



He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Fyan in 1986 and his parents.



The family will be at the Neller Chapel Monday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. 
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co., Neller 
Chapel, Portland. Interment will follow in East Sebewa Cemetery.



Pall bearers were; Phil Cloud, Lee Badder, Clyde Rogers, Harold Ward, Jim 
Miller and Al Cudngy.
