Amy Townsend was born October 14, 1842 in Wilna, Jefferson county, New York.  
She came to Michigan in 1855 with her father, sister and family.  She was 
united in marriage to P. C. Goolthrite March 12, 1861, who departed this life 
June 13, 1888.  To this union five children were born, all of which have gone 
on before, except the younger son.

September 4, 1889, she was untied in marriage to O. W. Gage, and died June 4, 
1927, aged 84 years, 7 months and 20 days.

She was converted in her early years and united with the Methodist Episcopal 
church, ever putting her Master first of all, and striving to do His bidding.  
She held all her friends in high esteem and was always ready to lend a helping 
hand to make the lives of those around her more pleasant.  She leaves to mourn 
her loss, an aged husband, her son, Archie, many relatives and dear friends.  

The funeral was held at her late home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. A. T. Cartland 
officiating.  Burial was in the Hubbardston cemetery.
