Ionia County News - Thursday, Sept. 2, 1948

Mrs. Anna May Moore, eldest daughter of Dudley and Marie Moore, was born 
October 23, 1889, in Cambridge township, Lenawee county, Michigan.

She departed this life August 23, 1948, at the age of 78 years and 10 months.

In November 1881 she moved with her parents to Indiana where her father died in 
1882. In 1883 she moved with her family to Vestaburg, Michigan.

She was united in marriage to William Gage, October 26, 1887. To this union 
were born two sons, Martin who died at the age of one year, and John, with whom 
she has made her home since 1937.

In 1892 she and her husband moved to a small farm where they resided until his 
death in 1920. After the death of her husband she moved in with her mother and 
cared for her until her death in 1937. In September she suffered a stroke with 
another following in December, and then went to live with her son and family 
where she remained until her death. 

She leaves to mourn their loss her son John and wife of near Hubbardston; nine 
grandchildren; a niece and two nephews, also a sister-in-law and two 
stepsisters; two stepbrothers and a host of friends and neighbors.

In 1920 she joined the Methodist church at Matherton where she was an active 
member as long as her health permitted ad she maintained the Christian faith 
until her death.
