Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 10 Feb 1920

Mabel J. Gais was born January 21, 1883, at Sheridan, Michigan.  She was a
daughter of Edward P. and Mary Collier, with whom she moved to Ionia at the age
of 7 years.  Then she went to Detroit, where she was united in marriage with
Fred M. Gais, on 27 February, 1918.  She died at the family residence 883
Loraine Ave., Detroit, Michigan, on February 1, 1920.  The deceased leaves to
mourn their loss, her husband, Fred Gais, of Detroit, two step children, Elton
Gais of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Harold Gais of Detroit, and her mother, Mrs.
Mary Twiss?, of Grand Rapids and two brothers, Geo. Collier of Ionia and Roland
L. Collier of Philadelphia, Penn.

Mrs. Fred Gais, who was formerly Miss Mabel Collier, died at their home in
Detroit Saturday night following a brief illness of flu and pneumonia.  The
remains will be brought here and taken to Belding for burial, it is expected
tonight or tomorrow.  Mrs. Gais was 38 years of age and attended school in
Ionia, residing here for many years.
