On April 15, 2024, Irma passed surrounded by her loved ones, and entered through the gates of Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She had 77 years of beautiful memories that she created on this earth. Irma grew up in Lake Odessa,MI with her parents, five sisters and four brothers. This is where she learned the love of dancing, cooking, baking and sewing. Growing up, Irma enjoyed school and working on projects that she learned through her home economic classes. During her time at Lake Odessa High School, Irma was very honored to be awarded best dressed by her peers, for her image of her style had been very important to her and she later shared this love with her children and grandchildren. After graduation, Irma began working and soon after married Filomeno (Felix) Galaviz. After the two were married, they had five beautiful children, Filomeno Jr., (Jennifer)Galaviz, Josefa (Collins), Marisela (Kevin) Shellenbarger, Enrique (Claudia) Galaviz, and Micaela (Trevor) DeLong. Once she had her children, Irma devoted the majority of her time to being a stay-at-home mother, focusing all her energy on making sure her kids have everything they needed.She had pride in her children for being active throughout their education and later completing trade school, college, and graduate school. Irma was known for her kindness.If you needed something, everyone knew Irma would help take care of it and be there to support in any way she could.She was loving in so many ways and everyone's biggest cheerleader. Irma was blessed with phenomenal cooking skills and always knew how to make just the right meal or cup of hot tea out of love.Did we mention her amazing homemade tortillas? If you were ever fortunate enough to have Irma make her tortillas for you, then you were blessed to have shared part of her love and tradition of bring family and friends together. She also was great at sewing and made many outfits, costumes, blanket, and more. her grandchildren have many memorable sewn pieces that they will forever cherish, and the time spent learning how to sew from her. She enjoyed traveling, especially to beaches and lakes, and was blessed with the opportunity to travel to almost all fifty states with her family. Camping with family and friends was also a big part of her life, especially at School Section lake Park in Mecosta.So many great memories wre created during her travels! Irma loved attending church and cherished the lifelong friendships that she made along the way.She found comfort in sharing many meals and stories with her church groups and playing cards with her friends. We will fondly remember Irma for her beautiful laugh, unconditional love, dancing (The Mashed Potato), cooking, support, love for her family and numerous silly moments that will make us smile for years to come. Irma will be greatly missed beyond belief by her family; especially in the hearts of her two son, three daughters, two daughter-in-laws, two sons-in-law, 19 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. "Mom, we learned so much on how we should be kind to others in life and how we should love God.We will make it a point to honor you and love the memories of you for years to come" Love you always - Filo, Josefa, Marisela, Enrique, Micaela. We will be celebrating the life of Irma Galaviz with a service on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 1 p.m., followed by a reception at Outreach Christian Church, 7831 N.Jordan Lake Road, Lake Odessa,MI 48849.
