Aug. 11, 1936 THE WIDOW OF FORMER IONIA MAYOR DEAD Funeral Rites for Mrs. Catherine Gallagher occurred at her home 230 East Main street at 3:30 Tuesday morning, August 11, after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at SS. Peter and Paul church with burial at Mr. Olivet cemetery. Mrs. Gallagher was the widow of Edward F. Gallagher, mayor of Ionia in 1905 and an alderman of Ionia prior to that time. Mr. Gallagher was manager of the Ionia Gas Light and Coke company for many years. Their marriage took place here August 19, 1885. Mrs. Gallagher was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Garrity and had been an Ionia resident for 65 years. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church and of the Rosary society. Surviving her are two sons, Frank J. of Connecticut, and Fred, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Vosper of Ionia, and a grandson James Edward Vosper; a sister, Mrs. James Scully of Detroit, and a brother, John A. Garrity also of Detroit. Another son, Ned, was killed July 20, 1907 in the wreck of an Ionia-Detroit Pere Marquette excursion train at Salem. Ionia Sentinel Standard-Thurs. Aug. 13, 1936 MRS. CATHERINE GALLAGHER Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Gallagher of 330 East Main street were held at SS. Peter and Paul church, Thursday morning at 9 o'clock. Requiem High Mass was sung by Rev. Fr. J.V. Coyle, the Celebrant of the Mass, who was assisted by Rev. Fr. Vincent Alfes, deacon of Morrice; Rev. Fr. Alfes was formerly an assistant priest at the Ionia parish and a friend of Mrs. Gallagher. Pall bearers were Anthony Scully, Fred A Chapman, Harry McGowan, Dr. J.J. McCann, Wallace Hearsey and John Sullivan. Mrs. George Hackett, Mrs. John Sullivan and Mrs. Harry McGowan had charge of the flowers. Out of town people who attended the funeral are;: Mrs. Bertha Scully, John Garrity, Mr. and Mrs. B. D. Connellly and Betty, Mary Ellen and James of Detroit; Frank Gallagher of New York City, Mrs. M. J. O'Brien and Rosemary and Charlotte of Chicago, Mrs. Margaret Bryant, Mrs. Margaret Nash and Mrs. Alice Bean of Grand Rapids, and Miss Dacie Sunderlin of Lansing. Additional Comments: Mt.
