Gallagher, 83, of 402 ½ West Washington Street, Ionia, died Friday, January 2, at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital after being admitted one-half hour earlier. He was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage while at work at his shop on Cornell Alley. Born February 28, 1875 in Canada, he was the son of Thomas and Mary Gallagher. He came to Stanton at the age of four with his parents, where he spent his early life. In 1908 Mr. Gallagher came to Ionia and was married to Rosa Curtis on June 28, 1911. They spent the greater part of the past 48 years in Ionia. He was an upholsterer by trade and operated his own business the past 25 years. Mr. Gallagher was a member of the Interdenominational Holiness Mission. Surviving are his wife, Rosa, Four daughters, Mrs. LaVern Mosier of Ionia, Mrs. Willard Youngs of Palm Beach, Florida, Mrs. Owen Ackley of Saline City, Indiana, and Mrs. Wilson Eckels of Waynewright, Alaska; two sisters, Mrs. Iris Gee of Alma, and Mrs. Anna Gotting of Rockford; 11 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Funeral service was held Tuesday, January 6, at Boynton’s Funeral Home with the Revs. Elmer Pearce and Elmer Courser officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Garden Shrines. Pallbearers were John High, Burton Hill, Hubert Doty, Ray Zimmerman, Robert Culver and Morris McCord.
