Paul R. Gallagher I, age 84, of Ionia formerly of Grand Rapids passed away 
September 9, 2004 at Blodgett Hospital. He was born April 5, 1920 in Detroit 
the son of Sidney and Rhonda (Finch) Gallagher.  Paul came to Ionia and 
managed the Water Shoe Store. For 59 years Paul and his wife and son built and 
owned Kay Distributing Co., of Ionia. He was a member of the Ss. Peter and 
Paul Catholic Church in Ionia and the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Catherine (Sargent) Gallagher of 
Ionia; sons Charles (Merry) Gallagher of Ionia. Paul II (Lynn) Gallagher of 
Saranac, David (Sally) Gallagher of Ada. Paul was a very special grandfather 
of 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great 
grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends of 
Little Whitefish Lake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m., at 
Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Melvin Fox celebrant. Interment 
will take place in Easton Cemetery. The family will receive friends and 
relatives Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of 
flowers, people wishing to donate in his memory may make contributions to 
King's Table Ministries for the developmental disabled, 6624 Rix St. 49301 or 
the Kidney Foundation
