Gallant, 53, Ionia Rte. 3, died suddenly Saturday, May 28, at 3 p.m. of a heart attack in the office of Dr. Joseph Kopchick, Muir. Mr. Gallant had been in poor health for several years. He had been ill for three weeks with pneumonia and though recovered was still being treated by his doctor. He was born in Gratiot county, December 28, 1887, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gallant. He had been a resident of Ionia county most of his life. He was employed for a number of years by the Marshall-Wright Lumber Co. and for 14 years at the Ionia State Hospital. For the past five years he had farmed on the present Orleans farm. He was a member of the Banner Grange. Surviving are the wife, the former Vera Bolster whom he married in Belding 29 years ago; three children, Howard and Clare Gallant and Mrs. Verena Spice of Carson City; a nephew, Walter Moore, Jr., who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Gallant; seven grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Lulu Meyers of Flint, Mrs. Rose Walbridge of Saranac, Mrs. Myrtle Hill of Cheboygan and Mrs. Harriet Dumond of San Diego, California. Services were conducted by the Rev. H. S. Ellis of Belding at the Orleans church at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Interment in Greene cemetery.
