Ionia Sentinel, 17 May 1983  

Mrs. Myrtle E. Galloup, 91, Ionia died Sunday at the Ionia County Memorial 
Hospital.  She was born in Palo June 5, 1891, the daughter of Andrew and Hattie 
Tift Cross.  She was married to Jess Galloup in Carson City on July 11, 1917.  
The lived most of their married life in Ionia.  He preceded her in death July 
21, 1959.

At one time she had worked at the Ypsilanti Reed Factory and also at the 
Sorosis Garment Factory.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ionia.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Ruth) Lucus, Ionia; four 
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  A son 
Vernon and a step-son Claude preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. form the Leddick Funeral Home 
with the Rev. Mark Bouchard of the First Baptist Church officiating.  Burial 
will be in Balcom cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday 7 
to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial has been established 
for the First Baptist Church.
