Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Thurs. Aug. 26, 1993

IONIA- Alton B. Galloup, 87, of Chase, formerly of Ionia, died on Tuesday at 
Blodgett Memorial Center.

He was born September 29, 1905, near Sheridan, the son of Finton and Cora Earle 
Galloup.

He attended school in Sheridan. He lived in the Sheridan and Ionia areas before 
moving to Chase in 1947. He was the owner and manager of a restaurant in Chase, 
until he retired in 1982.

He married Mabel Peabody on February 14, 1925, in Sheridan. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Alton D. (Pete) of Baldwin and Richard of Reed 
City; two daughters, Juanita Stokely of Six Lakes and Darlena McDaniel of Holt; 
one brother, Nial of Reed City; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the McDowell Funeral Home, Reed 
City, with the Rev. Michael Nicholson.

Burial will be in Chase Township Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Thursday after 2 p.m. and before the 
time of services on Friday.
