Clare Galloway, 61-year-old life-long resident of Palo and prominent Palo merchant, died suddenly Saturday night in Butterworth hospital, where he was taken by police ambulance from the Rowe hotel, suffering a series of heart attacks. Expecting to enter Blodgett Memorial hospital for observation, Mr. Galloway took the bus Saturday afternoon to Grand Rapids. Upon his arrival he went to the Rowe hotel because he wasn’t feeling well. He suffered a series of heart attacks before his death in Butterworth hospital. Born December 19, 1882, in Palo, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Galloway. His entire life had been spent in Palo where he owned and operated a general store. Raising purebred beagle hounds was a hobby of his and he attended many dog shows. Mr. and Mrs. Galloway spent summers at their cottage at Wellston. Surviving is his wife, Louise, and a grandson, Larry Jack Miles, of Chicago. A daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Miles, died in 1935.
