She came to Michigan with her parents about fifty-two years ago, and some forty-seven years ago she was married to James A. Galloway and came to Ionia county. As will be seen by this, she was one of the pioneers of this section of country. In all these years, she had lived with her family in one house in the township of Berlin. She was the mother of 9 childen, six sons and three daughters. They all survive her, and were present at her funeral. One daughter, Mrs. David C. Aelick, is a resident of this city. Mrs. Galloway departed this life July 12th, 1897. She was buried from the brick church across the river, from which her husband was buried some six years ago. Rev. D. F. Barnes, D. D. conducted the funeral service, and her six sons acted as bearers. It seldom occurs that a mother’s loss is more keenly felt than is her’s by her children. As a neighbor, Mrs. Galloway was respected by all who knew her; as a wife, she was kind and devoted; as a mother, she was gentle and affectionate. In early life she became a follower of the meek and lowly Jesus, united with the Methodist church, and remained a faithful believer until her death. She has gone from us, and yet her life is before us, and her memory is precious. She is not dead, but sleepeth.
