Ionia Sentinel Standard, 12 May 1950

Services for Mrs. Bessie M. Galloway, former Ionia county treasurer who died at
the home of her son, Pitt, and family of St. Johns Tuesday night, were conducted
at the Ionia Methodist church at 2 p.m., Thursday.  Dr. Howard A. Smith, pastor,
officiated at the service assisted by the Rev. G. Moore Morgan, rector of the
Episcopal church in St. Johns.  

Bearers were Clayton Harwood, Gayle Galloway, Clare Galloway, Don Allen, D.J.
Perrone and Julius VanderLugt.  Interment was in Balcom cemetery.

Persons attended the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Pitt Galloway
and son, Sid, of St. Johns; Mrs. Fannie Shoesmith of Detroit; S-Sgt. and Mrs.
Loren Shoesmith of Leslie; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Harwood of Plainwell; Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Rowe and Mrs. H.E. Mumford of Midland; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller of
Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Morel Davis of Lake Odessa; Mrs. Alice Dengate, Mr. and
Mrs. R. Dengate, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dengate, and Dick Dengate, Grand Rapids;
and Mrs. Elon D. Lakin of Portland.
