After a lingering illness, Mrs. Alta Marinda Gardner, 86, died Friday, April 18 
at the Weedmark Convalescent home on I O street.  She had been a patient there 
for 18 months.  Mrs. Gardner was born in Albion, Indiana October 16, 1869, but 
had lived for many years on a farm in the Smyrna area.  She was married to 
Harold Gardner, who preceded her in death in July, 1952.

Survivors include two sons, Dewain Gardner of Grandville and Jack of Kansas 
City, Kansas; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Ellis Funeral 
Home.  Mrs. Charles Rose was organist and Mr. Eugene Covey of the Smyrna Gospel 
Church officiated at the service.  Burial was in the Otisco Cemetery.  Pall 
bearers were Harold Davis, Royal Davis, Frank Parker, Herman Seif, George 
Geiger and Raymond Geiger.
