He had been in feeble health for many months, and wife went to the Soldiers Home a few weeks ago, where he continued to fail and was brought home Oct. 11th. Deceased was born at Cleveland, Ohio, in 1841, and came with the family to Muir when about nine years of age, settling on a farm one mile north of Muir. In 1869 he was married to Sarah Dikeman, who survives. An only daughter, Mrs. Geo. H. Hodgman of this village, is left to mourn, as are also four brothers: William of Muir; Perry, of Detroit; Cassius, of Midland, Richard, of Pontiac. Deceased served through the Civil War as a member of the Third Michigan Cavalry, Company D, and re-enlisted for service in Texas until 1866. He was a member of M.W. Dresser Post G.A.R., who had charge of the services held this afternoon; burial in the Muir cemetery.
