Ionia Sentinel Standard, 24 Apr 1968

Robert C. Gardner, 43, former Ionian, died suddenly at Bay City General hospital
Tuesday following a heart attack.

A graduate of Ionia high school in 1943, he entered the navy in June of that
year and served throughout World War II.  He was the son of Mrs. Gertrude Scheer
of Grand Rapids, and Dale Gardner, who preceded him in death in 1967.

After finishing his naval career he attended Central Michigan university where
he obtained a masters degree in education and taught industrial arts at
Sebewaing high school where he was assistant principal.

In 1950 he was married to the former Betty Beutler and there are four children
all at home.

Survivors include his wife and children, mother, Mrs. Gertrude Scheer; one
sister, Mrs. C.B. Hattinger, route 4, Ionia.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Sebewaing Catholic church with Fr.
Skornia officiating.  Burial will be at Sebewaing.
