Ionia Standard – 6 Aug 1915
Joseph Gardner a resident of Keene Township since 1859 died last Wednesday at 
the home of his son, James in Osceola Co, aged 87 years.  Mr. Gardner went 
from his home in Keene to Evart during the latter part of March to make an 
extended visit with his daughter, Mrs. Foster,  and a month after his arrival 
there he had the misfortune to stumble and fall from the porch steps, 
fracturing his right leg, from the effects of which he did not recover.  
Deceased is survived by six children:  Mrs. Emily Croinger of Sparta; John 
Gardner of Orleans; James Gardner and Mrs. Matilda Foster of Evart; Mrs. Mary 
King and Mrs. Louise Johnson of Keene.
