Ionia Standard  - 27 April  1883
The  body of  Charles Gardner was found in some driftwood and los in Grand 
River, near Prairie Creek on Friday afternoon.  The father of the boy  being 
notified by telegraph come down and returned with the remains to Muir on the 
same evening.   They  were buried the following morning, the funeral services 
being held in the afternoon at the  Presbyterian Church, Muir.
