Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Oct. 2011

Nancy M. Gardner, 56, of Ionia passed away Oct. 20, 2011. She was born Aug. 18, 
1955 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Jack and Vivian (Broadbent) Pearce.

She graduated from Ionia High School in 1973. Nancy worked for the Department 
of Corrections for 25 years ranked as a Lieutenant, retiring in July 2010 from 
Michigan Reformatory. She loved to play softball. Nancy especially enjoyed time 
with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Andrew J. Gardner and Amy Russnell of Ionia; two 
grandchildren, Tayvon Andrew Gardner and Jadyn Renee Gardner; brothers, Michael 
Pierson of Lansing, Craig (Sharon) Pearce of Saranac, and Dave (Patti) Pearce 
of Grand Rapids; sisters, Cindy (John) Sanderson of Muir, Patte (Santana) 
Martinez of Florida, Peggy (Tim) Wray of Ionia, Wendi (Steve) Gross of Ionia, 
Sandi Pearce and Dan Bussell of Ionia, and Sheri Pearce of Ionia, Aunt Ayleen 
Wieland of Alto; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Deb Davis of 
Ionia and Renee Rhoades of Saranac.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Mark Pearce.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church 
with Pastor Cliff Allen officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. 
Sunday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Anyone wishing may make memorial
