Daily Sentinel-Standard - Thursday, March 21, 1940

Funeral services will be  held at the Fitzjohn funeral home in Belding at 10 
a.m. Friday for Mrs. Melvina Gardner, 83, a former resident of Smyrna. Rev. 
H.S. Ellis will officiate and burial will be in Smyrna.

Mrs. Gardner died at the home of her son, Chester Gardner, Belding, early 
Wednesday morning. She was the widow of Warren Gardner to whom she was married 
about 60 years ago, and the family resided in Smyrna many years. Mrs. Gardner 
was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Campbell and was born in Macomb county, 
September 13, 1855. Warren Gardner died in 1928 and Mrs. Gardner has since 
lived with her son.

Surviving are four sons, Chester of Belding, Virgil of Smyrna, Henry of Ionia 
and Winfield of Mancelona, and a sister, Mrs. Adeline Joslyn of Smyrna.
